This exhibition marks the first time William Morris's works have been brought from London to Shanghai, supported by the China Cultural Relics Exchange Center and jointly organized by the World Expo Museum in Shanghai and the Victoria and Albert Museum (V&A). Its purpose is to showcase the essence and charm of the British Arts and Crafts Movement to Chinese audiences. The exhibition will display 123 pieces (or sets) of treasures closely associated with the movement from 1890 to 1920. Through the introductory hall and three interconnected sections, the exhibition offers visitors a deep dive into the artistic philosophy of the Arts and Crafts Movement, led by William Morris, the father of modern design. By comparing William Morris's designs with Victorian-era textiles, visitors will gain a deeper understanding of the movement's core ideals and design principles: "Simplify to beautify, and beauty is truth."
