StreetVoice is taking over Specters this month with two gigs putting a spotlight on some of the freshest and most exciting acts in the indie world. Night Two - unfolding this Sunday - features one of my favorite news acts from last year - Guangzhou noise pop outfit Xiangxiang. Full of spunk, musical chops, and power chords, there’s a wistful fizzy exuberance to their brand of noise pop that’s infectious, brimming with a wide-eyed grin and an intrepid spirit. Also on the bill are the wonderful Milkguard from Nanjing - whose lush transporting shoegaze sound is a fine art - and Hangzhou’s No Decision at Night - the emo heart-stoppers whose delicate touch spares no one.
