The Royal Family of Guitar
Born into classical guitar royalty, Pepe Romero is the son of maestro Celedonio Romero and a member of the legendary Romero Quartet (founded 1960). Dubbed the “Royal Family of Guitar” in PBS and German TV documentaries, the Romeros received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2007 for their unparalleled contributions to music.
70+ Years of Mastery
Debuting at age 7, Pepe has since performed thousands of concerts worldwide—both as a soloist and with the Quartet—and recorded over 60 albums, including 20 concertos with Sir Neville Marriner’s Academy of St Martin in the Fields. Celebrating his 80th birthday in 2023–24, he continues to captivate audiences globally.

Premieres & Rediscoveries
Pepe has world-premiered works by Joaquín Rodrigo, Federico Moreno Torroba, and his father Celedonio, including Rodrigo’s Concierto Andaluz and Torroba’s Diálogos entre guitarra y orquesta. His archival revivals include lost gems by Fernando Sor and Luigi Boccherini.
Collaborations with the Greats
From the Berlin Philharmonic to the London Symphony Orchestra, Pepe has partnered with top ensembles and conductors like Christoph Eschenbach and Neville Marriner. His 2012 album Spanish Nights (Deutsche Grammophon) and 11-CD Decca retrospective cement his status as a guitar icon.
