The University of Manchester China Centre and the British Chamber of Commerce Shanghai invite business professionals to a breakfast talk with Prof. Duncan R. Shaw, an expert in data strategy and digital business models. Drawing from his book Managing Emerging Data Technologies: Theory and Practice (Sage Publications), Prof. Shaw will discuss how business leaders can align decision-making, digital capabilities, and customer needs in an AI-driven world. With over 30 years of experience in business transformation across Europe, North America, and Southeast Asia, his background spans management consulting, engineering, logistics, and customer satisfaction. He specialises in applying emerging technologies—such as Generative AI, Robotic Process Automation, IoT, and Big Data—to help organisations better understand customers, innovate products and services, and develop new business models. Prof. Shaw holds an MBA and PhD from Manchester Business School, along with Bachelor's and Master's degrees in engineering.
