Mafalda, created by Argentine cartoonist Quino in 1964, quickly grew from a local comic strip character into an icon across the Spanish-speaking world and beyond. Known for her sharp humor, thoughtful reflections, and irreverent take on global issues, she remains a beloved figure six decades later. To mark her 60th anniversary, the Instituto Cervantes, together with NeoCogito—the publisher of the Chinese re-edition—has organized the exhibition Welcome to the World of Mafalda, with support from the Consulate of Argentina in Shanghai. The exhibition presents original comic panels alongside life-size reproductions of Mafalda, her dining room, and her bedroom, offering a glimpse into the world of this enduring character.
