Ring in the New Year with a timeless classic! The renowned State Opera of Tatarstan presents Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake" with a full live orchestra. This isn't just any version; it's the new production by legendary "God of Dance" Vladimir Vasiliev, receiving its China premiere on this tour, led by film star Oleg Ivenko.

Pyotr Tchaikovsky's four-act ballet "Swan Lake" is universally acknowledged as the premier masterpiece of ballet. This performance features the new production of "Swan Lake" by Vladimir Vasiliev, a legendary figure in dance history often referred to as the "God of Dance." This version received its world premiere in April 2025 and makes its China debut on this tour. The story, set to some of the most famous music ever written for ballet, follows Prince Siegfried and his love for the swan princess Odette, who is under the spell of the evil sorcerer Von Rothbart. The performance will be accompanied by a live symphony orchestra.

The State Opera of Tatarstan, one of Russia's oldest and most prestigious cultural institutions (founded in 1791), presents a landmark production of Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake" for its China premiere. This is not a standard rendition; it is the new version choreographed by the legendary Vladimir Vasiliev, a titan of ballet history often hailed as the "God of Dance." The theatre, a recent winner of Russia's national "Onegin" award for Best Opera House, brings over 120 artists from its ballet company and symphony orchestra to deliver this monumental performance.

The production features principal dancer Oleg Ivenko, acclaimed for his leading role in the film "The White Crow." The inclusion of a live symphony orchestra adds profound musical richness and emotional depth, with every note perfectly synchronized to the dancers' movements, from the iconic "white acts" to the dramatic character scenes. This performance of "Swan Lake" represents a unique opportunity to witness a fresh interpretation of the world's most famous ballet, crafted by a living legend and performed by one of Russia's top companies. This event is part of the theatre's 2025-2026 China tour stop in Shanghai.
