This exhibition brings together 259 works by 52 artists, making it the largest exhibition of Art Brut ever shown in China. Co-organized by Power Station of Art and the Collection de l’Art Brut in Lausanne, the show includes landmark pieces from Jean Dubuffet’s pioneering collection as well as works by four self-taught Chinese artists. Visitors can expect a wide-ranging introduction to Art Brut, a term coined in 1945 to describe art created outside conventional frameworks by self-taught, often marginalized artists. The exhibition unfolds across six thematic sections and features rare documents, archives, and films, offering a comprehensive look at the history and ongoing resonance of Art Brut.
