Portugal’s National Collection of Contemporary Art (CACE) makes its first appearance outside Europe with Unstable Landscape, opening at Fosun Foundation Shanghai this November. Curated by Sandra Vieira Jürgens, the exhibition gathers more than twenty artists from different generations, including Paula Rego, Júlio Pomar, Maria Helena Vieira da Silva, Carlos Bunga, and Joana Escoval. Through painting, sculpture, photography, and installation, the show explores how the idea of “landscape” shifts between geography, memory, and politics. At its center is Vieira da Silva’s 1962 work Porto, a luminous and fragmented reflection of her hometown, presented in honor of the 30th anniversary of the Shanghai–Porto sister-city relationship. The exhibition offers a contemplative look at the evolving connections between perception, place, and time.
