Finnish metal veterans Amorphis return to China with their Borderland China Tour 2026. Celebrating more than three decades as one of Finland's most influential metal bands, the group brings songs from their latest concept album Borderland alongside the signature blend of melodic death metal, progressive influences, and Finnish mythology that has defined their career.
Amorphis returns to China in support of their latest album Borderland. Formed in Helsinki in 1990, the band has spent more than three decades expanding the boundaries of metal music, evolving from early death metal roots into a sound that incorporates progressive rock, folk influences, orchestral elements, and melodic songwriting.

Their music draws heavily from Finland's national epic, Kalevala, blending mythological storytelling with powerful riffs, atmospheric arrangements, and contrasting vocal styles. The Borderland tour showcases the band's latest chapter while reflecting the musical evolution that has defined their long career.

Released in 2026, Borderland is Amorphis' latest concept album and was produced by Jacob Hansen. Continuing the band's longstanding fascination with mythology and progressive songwriting, the album explores new sonic territory while maintaining the elements that have become central to the Amorphis sound.

The release topped charts in multiple countries and received recognition from rock and metal media as one of the year's notable progressive metal albums.
Founded in 1990, Amorphis is widely regarded as one of Finland's pioneering metal bands.

The group's breakthrough came with the 1994 album Tales from the Thousand Lakes, which fused death metal with Finnish folk melodies, progressive rock influences, and themes inspired by Kalevala. The album is frequently cited as a landmark release in melodic death metal and folk metal.

Throughout the following decades, the band continued to evolve stylistically, incorporating clean vocals, progressive arrangements, symphonic elements, and increasingly expansive songwriting.
Since vocalist Tomi Joutsen joined in 2005, Amorphis has released a series of acclaimed albums including Eclipse, Silent Waters, Skyforger, Under the Red Cloud, and Queen of Time.
