Internationally acclaimed soprano Angela Gheorghiu returns to Shanghai for a vocal recital featuring art songs and vocal works spanning more than 260 years of music history. The program brings together works by composers including Giordani, Donizetti, Schumann, Richard Strauss, Rachmaninoff, Bellini, and Satie, with pianist Jeff Cohen joining her on stage.

Angela Gheorghiu

Soprano

Angela Gheorghiu is an internationally recognized soprano known for her performances at major opera houses including the Royal Opera House, La Scala, Vienna State Opera, and the Metropolitan Opera.

She has performed iconic roles including Mimì in La Bohème, Violetta in La Traviata, Juliette in Roméo et Juliette, Tosca, and Micaëla in Carmen. Her recordings have been released by EMI Classics, Warner Classics, and Decca, and she has received multiple international awards.

Jeff Cohen

Piano

Jeff Cohen is a professor at the Paris Conservatoire and has served as vocal coach at the Royal Opera House La Monnaie and music director of Théâtre du Châtelet.

As a pianist, he has collaborated with numerous internationally renowned singers and instrumentalists, including Angela Gheorghiu. He was awarded the French Order of Arts and Letters in 2006 and promoted to Commander in 2019.
