More than 130 sculptures fill the halls and plazas of China Art Museum in this large-scale survey of Chinese sculptor Zeng Chenggang, bringing together works made across more than four decades of his career. Spread across about 5,000 square meters, the exhibition moves through themes of landscape, mythology, history, and collective memory, tracing how the artist draws on the visual language of ancient Chinese bronzes and reworks those references into contemporary sculptural forms. Some of the largest pieces — including towering columns and myth-inspired creatures — appear outdoors in the museum’s public spaces, while inside the galleries visitors encounter everything from expressive animal figures to narrative works referencing legends, historical figures, and ideas of national identity.
