Description

Fotografiska Shanghai opens the year with A’s Fables, Whose Fables?, a solo exhibition by Chai Mi that surveys a decade of her image-based practice. Moving from what she calls an “archaeology of images” to a looser, reconstructed form of storytelling, Chai Mi reworks zoo photographs, Aesop’s fables, and personal memory to question who is watching whom — and who gets to tell the story. On view from January 16 to March 8, 2026, the exhibition invites viewers to step out of the role of observer and into a quieter, more intimate space where images, animals, and narratives start to blur.
