TANK Shanghai presents Grace Schwindt’s first solo exhibition in Asia. Using a boxing match as a framework, Schwindt examines the delicate balance between conflict, proximity, and care, turning the central ring into a sculptural and immersive focal point under dramatic blue, red, and white lighting. Her work interweaves plants, animals, and film to explore the complex, intertwined relationships between humans and the natural world, highlighting vulnerability, reciprocity, and attention to presence. Visitors encounter moments between the action—preparation, pause, and aftermath—where tenderness and attentiveness emerge, while birdsong from Shanghai and its surroundings merges into the soundscape, reinforcing the exhibition’s meditation on coexistence. Across media and spatial layers, Schwindt’s practice invites viewers to reflect on the impact of human activity and the need for care and attentiveness in our interactions with the living world.
