Description

A string ensemble concert led by Lorenz Nasturica-Herschcowici, performing Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings and a selection of Piazzolla’s tangos. The program highlights virtuoso interpretations on historic Stradivari instruments, offering a rich blend of classical and tango repertoire.

About the Performance

The concert opens with Tchaikovsky’s beloved Serenade for Strings in C Major, Op. 48, celebrated for its exquisite orchestration and memorable melodies. The program then moves to Astor Piazzolla’s iconic tangos, including Libertango, Oblivion, and Café 1930, marking the 105th anniversary of the “father of tango.”

Lorenz Nasturica-Herschcowici, both conductor and soloist, leads the Stradivari Ensemble—founded in 2015—comprised of principal players from top orchestras, performing on historic Italian instruments crafted by Stradivari and Amati. Their interpretations promise a rich, nuanced, and historically informed performance of both classical and tango repertoire.
