The concert opens with Tchaikovsky’s beloved Serenade for Strings in C Major, Op. 48, celebrated for its exquisite orchestration and memorable melodies. The program then moves to Astor Piazzolla’s iconic tangos, including Libertango, Oblivion, and Café 1930, marking the 105th anniversary of the “father of tango.”

Lorenz Nasturica-Herschcowici, both conductor and soloist, leads the Stradivari Ensemble—founded in 2015—comprised of principal players from top orchestras, performing on historic Italian instruments crafted by Stradivari and Amati. Their interpretations promise a rich, nuanced, and historically informed performance of both classical and tango repertoire.

Lorenz Nasturica-Herschcowici – Conductor & Soloist

A former principal of the Munich Philharmonic for 30 years and current principal of the Mariinsky Symphony Orchestra, Lorenz is renowned for his exceptional technique, expressive tone, and versatility. He has collaborated with conductors such as Sergiu Celibidache, Christian Thielemann, and Valery Gergiev. His instruments include a 1732 Antonio Stradivari violin once played by Jascha Heifetz.
Stradivari Ensemble

Founded by Lorenz in 2015, the ensemble features principal and soloists from major symphony orchestras. Members perform on 17th–18th century Italian instruments by Stradivari, Amati, and other masters, producing a distinctive sound across repertoire spanning Baroque, classical, tango, and light music.
