BFC brings back one of Shanghai’s big holiday draws, this year with a full Pokémon takeover centered on the world’s first 15.1-meter “151 Pokémon” Christmas tree. Lit with warm golden LEDs and wrapped with Pikachu, Squirtle, Bulbasaur, and the rest of the lineup, the tree shifts from a sunset glow to a bright nighttime display that anchors most of the photo ops. Around the area, there’s a Pokémon pop-up with limited-edition merch, a Snorlax-themed ball pit in the B2 atrium, and scheduled character appearances throughout December. The outdoor skating rink returns as well, set up Manhattan-style with immersive lighting, coaching sessions, and occasional figure-skating shows. Weekends bring rotating Christmas markets—classic holiday stalls, mulled wine, a Finland-themed market, pet-friendly events—and later the Dianping “Must-Eat Carnival.” With the installations, markets, performances, and photo spots, BFC basically turns the riverside into a full holiday playground for December.
