The Nutcracker, performed by the Septura Brass Ensemble, is a unique brass and percussion interpretation of Tchaikovsky’s ballet, released by Naxos Records in 2019. Narration by British actor Derek Jacobi guides the audience through the story, creating a magical, immersive experience. Iconic pieces like the "Overture," "March," and "Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy" are reimagined with rich textures, blending dreamlike fantasy and festive energy.

Composed in 1890 for the Imperial Theatre in St. Petersburg, Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker is based on E.T.A. Hoffmann’s tale, adapted by Alexandre Dumas. Premiered in 1892 at the Mariinsky Theatre, it tells the story of Clara, who receives a nutcracker doll on Christmas Eve. When it comes to life to battle the Rat King, Clara journeys with the Nutcracker Prince to the magical Candy Kingdom, experiencing wonder, dance, and celebration.

The Nutcracker is one of Tchaikovsky’s three iconic ballets—alongside Swan Lake and Sleeping Beauty—and is a staple of holiday performances worldwide, celebrated for its enduring cultural impact.
