Tolouse Low Trax is the alias of Detlef Weinrich, a German-born electronic musician, DJ, and artist now based in Paris (self-described as ”Parisian-by-choice“). He studied art at the Düsseldorf Academy, was a member of the experimental band Kreidler, and co-founded the influential Düsseldorf club Salon des Amateurs, shaping its groundbreaking program for over 15 years (called ”The Post Kraut Hacienda“ by Resident Advisor). His solo work defies easy categorization, blending guarded steppers, old-school hip-hop, Detroit-style pulses, motorway funk, cosmic dub, tribal bounce, manic loops, dubby grooves, Gamelan melancholy, and experimental subconscious vibes—creating dancefloor-ready yet introspective soundscapes.
