HOWL Shanghai is a 24-hour, self-service climbing gym in Putuo, set up for climbers looking to train independently. The space has a Kilter Board with adjustable angles, a 30-degree Spray Wall that can also be used for dry tooling, a fingerboard training area, a crack climbing section, a rope skills area, and climbing ropes, along with changing rooms, lockers and basic training gear. There’s no staff on site, so visits need to be booked in advance, with first-time visitors asked to contact the gym manager for access instructions. The space is kept intentionally small, with a recommended maximum of eight people at a time, making it more of a focused training room than a full-service climbing gym.
