Le Bordelais is a classic, cozy French bistrot founded on one simple principle: Bordeaux is overpriced in Shanghai. The owner, a native of the famed French wine region, has used all of his connections back home to cut out the middleman and pass on the savings to the public. The menu offers eminently affordable bottles – they stock over 80 kinds of red, white, sweet, rose, and sparkling wine, with 1300 bottles on site – and they update the list with 3-5 new wines every month. Take-away bottles are 30-40% off. They also serve 14 kinds of Bordeaux by the glass, starting at 35rmb. For food, they have terrines, imported cheese and charcuterie platters, and several affordable dishes focusing on truffles. Nice place.
