Co-working space provider WeWork's latest effort at world (Shanghai) domination is now open Nanjing Xi Lu. It's where Mark & Spencer used to be, to give you an idea of the size, adjacent to the Line 2 entrance. This new office occupies the 3rd floor to 5th floor of the Zhongchuang building.

*** With its high ceilings and wide windows overlooking Nanjing Xi Lu and Wujiang Lu, and glass-enclosed staircase in the center area, neither in layout or structure is there any trace of the former tenant. In about three months, the glorious new main entrance on Nanjing Xi Lu will open, ready to receive Shanghai-based professionals starved for work space with its prime location. (Currently, you have to access it from the back door.) The brightly-lit, neon-themed new office evokes a bit of a tropical vibe. It is designed by Huyan Binyu, who's also in charge of WeWork's IFC space. Aside from the quirky looking art installations, the Nanjing Xi Lu office evidently draws inspirations from the nearby shikumen compound Zhangyuan. It is also the home of China's first WeWork Labs, a program that helps early-stage startups to kick-start their businesses. Unlike conventional accelerators, the deal is that they're only taking rent instead of equity from their member companies. And there's more on the way. After taking over arguably two of the most expensive office buildings in Shanghai., WeWork will soon open their Dongchang Lu and Huamu Lu locations in Pudong in the next three months. *** WeWork (Nanjing Xi Lu) is at 819 Nanjing Xi Lu, near Shimen Yi Lu.
