SmartShanghai is proud to be the media and ticketing partner for Maker Faire Shanghai. And as any parent who's looked for an after-school activity knows, it's hard to tell what a class is really like from a listing. Maker Faire gives kids a chance to try things out and parents a chance to meet the people running them.

The format is nicely interactive. Kids can make things and get a feel for different classes and programs; parents can ask the practical questions that matter when you're choosing what to sign up for. It makes the search for a new activity feel less like scrolling through listings.

This year, Maker Faire moves from the Bund to The Central, but the formula is the same. It's on October 31 and November 1, with tickets from ¥65.

A genuinely useful outing for families.
