Wishing all our readers a very happy Chinese New Year — whether you're heading home, hosting relatives, escaping the city, or planning to aggressively do nothing for a week.

We're taking a short break over the holiday too. The site will still be up (obviously), but the editorial team is logging off, powering down, and pretending our phones don't exist for a bit. We'll be back after the holiday with fresh content, new openings, things to eat, things to do, and whatever else Shanghai throws at us next.

If you're sticking around town, don't forget about our Big Guide to CNY in Shanghai 2026.

新年快乐.
