Never heard of Maywa Denki's Nonsense Machine? It's a live musical demonstration of some of the weird techno-wizardry whackadoodle bizarro trinketry created by a bunch of Japanese musicians/toy makers/artists. "Artists." They've already played in Shanghai a couple of times, notably at the opening of the Ming Contemporary Art Museum. They're back in the city at MIFA 1862 on June 29 and tickets are naturally going on SmartTicket. Dressed in blue coverall "average worker" costumes, Maywa Denki performs music with all kinds of bananahammock nonsense gadgets that they produce for their sonorous insane asylum (often also available for sale), just like the more traditional electronics they used to marvel over in their father's factory. If you like your music blue-collar and off-the-wall insane, this is for you. Mimsy were the borogoves!
