Back in 2011, Split-Works threw what's widely considered Shanghai's best music festival -- Black Rabbit. They tried to bring it back in 2012, but...mei you. Well, this is the reincarnation of Black Rabbit -- Echo Park. For two days in September, expect a huge, diverse lineup of bands and hip hop acts, quality F&B, and just good vibes. Acts include Black Star, Gerard Way (My Chemical Romance), Kelis, Chase & Status, Pennywise, Bok Bok, Star Slinger, Howie Lee, We Are Wolves, Nick Monaco, Skinny Brown, Damacha, and many more. Door tickets are 260rmb per day or 400rmb for two days, and worth it.
Here is the FULL LINEUP AND SCHEDULE. Pro Tips: This venue gets cold at night -- maybe bring a sweater. If you smoke cigs, bring them. No one is selling them on-site.
How To Get There: The cheapest option is taking the metro. The venue is a five minute walk from Metro Line 6, Wuzhou Ave, Exit 1. You'll see signs. Get cash at the station, because there is no ATM on site and you won't be able to use your card to buy food and drinks. Also, the last act finishes at 9.50pm each day, so you've still got time to catch the metro back home (last train at 10.42pm). A cab from downtown is going to cost you about 70rmb one-way, and it's a 20km ride. For more info, check out our feature article on Echo Park, or the FAQ on the Split-Works website.
