This busy Japanese-style speakeasy is hidden behind a secret door in a bartending equipment shop on Fuxing Lu. It spans four floors, each with its own concept. The lively second floor recalls a house party and they serve classic cocktails like Corpse Reviver No.2 and Negroni Sbagliato as well as some creative originals, like a cocktail made with Wang Lao Ji tea. Prices here start in the mid '70s. The third floor is a quieter, even more intimate affair serving super premium original drinks that start north of 100rmb. As you can guess, the fourth floor is even pricier. Getting a seat on the weekend will be difficult without a reservation.

If you're a one-stop shop kinda person like I am, then this is the place for you. Speak Low has three bars with three different concepts on three separate floors. Just depends if you want to ride Economy, Business or First Class.

First floor - I would call this Economy class. It's a tinie tiny smoking dungeon that has a downtown New York-ish ring to it. I don't smoke and I don't fly Economy so I skipped this floor all together.

Second floor - Business Class passengers. I went on a Friday night and it was buzzing and crowded with expats. My friend ordered the Cheek to Cheek cocktail which I didn't even get to smell because she wolfed it down so quickly. I had the English Mule (equivalent of Moscow Mule) which was OK - not amazing like Bar Constellations - but the upbeat tempo of the place makes it worthwhile.

Third floor - First Class members only. I heard this floor is more Parisian... there's a chandelier, a piano, a pianist, high end cognac, armagnac and whiskey blah blah you get the drift. To get in you have a to be a VIP hence the big members only policy talk by the waiters.

Service is good (so far) prices are good (70rmb+ per cocktail), atmosphere is good... so I would definitely go back there with my friends and maybe even sneak up to the third floor next time.
