Have been here twice. First time it was a packed house, the atmosphere was lively, and food was slightly better than average. I didn't appreciate the hackneyed interior design and wall murals but thats just my personal taste and felt the overall experience warranted future patronage.

Visited again recently and the "terrace" was full of the type of French people who make it their singular mission to expose everybody to secondhand smoke, perhaps the proprietors and their friends. Waitstaff was very competent. Burger was okay. The ribs were god-awful. Two individual ribs, two bites of meat total, very dry and off-texture. Too much cumin, which I wasn't expecting at all since there was no mention of what sort of cuisine these ribs were approximating. And the mashed potatoes that came with the ribs? Definitely instant mashed potatoes--it had that hard-to-describe industrial flavor I recall from public school cafeteria lunches and have never experienced from fresh mashed potatoes. So so nasty.

Nice little diner/bistro on Wuding rd. Menu composed of Western greatest hits, and skews towards the American palate. The space is comfortable and inviting for a quick meal, and service seems to be apt for now (when it's not busy).

Food wise, it is best to stick with simple dishes; they have condensed their multipage many into a more focused attempt since my first visit, but it is still all over the board. Offerings range from shakshouka, to fish & chips, to Ratatouille; this can be problematic for the indecisive...reading through the menu I even found myself changing my mind a couple times on what I wanted.

Crab cakes, tiny limp creations served on a flat slate with greens that end up all over the table because of the shape of the plate, pass.

Sausage risotto, the arborio(?) rice was undercooked, flavor on par with something you expect in, well, Shanghai. Forgettable.

Chef's burger, I assume it is the one I had with the fried egg on my first visit but now sans egg, was a solid burger. The patty had a fine grind similar to Beef and Liberty, but with a better (unsweet) bun and decent toppings. Fries could use some improvements as they were the frozen-fried-once variety; some were crisp, most were soft.

Cobb salad, this portion could feed two. Assuming a Cobb was precisely what you wanted, you could do far worse than here. Fresh, well prepped ingredients.

House red wine: forgot the vintage, but it actually tastes like decent wine, and not watered down balsamic.

Overall a positive addition to the casual dining scene. What I really like about them is their reasonable price points, many fish entrees in the 100rmb vicinity, small plates and apps in the 40-80 rmb area. If the chef could manage to step up his game a bit, I can see this being a well received brunch spot in the future.
