Pleasant little British spot just around the corner from Yongkang Lu but a world away, serving British sausages, builders tea, full English breakfast, sandwiches, and -- most notably -- sausage rolls. Really, the sausage rolls are next level, but come early because they go fast. Sausages and sandwiches from 28rmb; meals from 58rmb; drinks from 16rmb. If you're missing home -- especially if you hail from the UK -- this is a fine place to come have a meal and chat with the owner Deji. Real nice guy from London. Beer is also priced fairly, starting at 20rmb for Kirin bottles and 35-40rmb for craftier options.

Just wanted something to tie me over for a few hours whilst having a few on Yongkang Lu, a little snack to remind me of home maybe? Yes, I remembered reading about ‘Bad Boy Bangers’ and as it is close it would be a crime to at least not have a quick look.

First, the place is tiny, not really a place a bunch of you could grab a table and enjoy a meal. Although, I guess you and your mates could all shuffle around up at the breakfast bar. This isn’t a criticism, it is what it is and it’s not trying to be anything else.

Ordered the sausage roll that I’d heard about and yes, it was spot on. Definitely one of those simple things that I’d been missing from back home. Thought I’d quickly try another snack, just one of their standard hot dogs. It was nothing fancy, certainly had the look of something that had seen better days, but it was a standard hot dog filled with the taste of home. If I were to be really picky I’d have to say I wasn’t over keen on the caramelised onions being cold, I would have preferred them hot. Although I did like the little cabbage-coleslaw type thing that was trying to brighten up my tiny plate.

I hadn’t ordered a drink, intentional, I had to leave some room for my beer I was to later consume. The guy serving me asked me a couple of times if I wanted water and also if I enjoyed the sausage roll. Nice touch for a small place, very friendly.

Total damage was fifty hard earned yuan. If I’m on Yongkang Lu drowning my sorrows and need some sustenance beforehand, this place does it for me, although I am easily pleased.

Got to try out one of their full breakfasts one day.

Small and a little quirky but a great little alternative option. I’ll certainly go back.

I thought i read something good about Bad boy Bangers on Smsh before- but I'm now doubting that. We stepped into the small- even for yongkang area- little cookery. The cook smiled and handed us a plain menu with about 12 options. There were hot dogs, breakfast platters, and ... hot dogs. All cooked on the 1 m sized hot plate. Not terribly surprising. There was a gentleman sitting on the inside counter eating what looked like a grilled cheese stuffed with 3 whole sausages- very greasy and very cheesy, very credible.

We settled on the Spicy and Sweet and Sour hot dog- a fair price of just over 30 rmb. I should have known then that the sizes were very small- seems like a very cheap meal for a restaurant that seems to be branded for foreigners. We order 2 adult beverages, and the total was 130 rmb- not bad.

We sit outside on Jiashan- the very smelly ghetto version that misses the noisy complaints from our brethren we left behind. About 10 minutes later our dogs arrive. Looked like good old fair food from back home- cardboard box- white bun, a sausage blanketed in green bell peppers, onions, tomatoes. My first thought is- well this looks very routine.

I take a bite and the sausage is very tasty- chorizo as promised, but nothing about this is sweet or sour. They did have a nice assortment of BBQ sauce to adorn your dog- after my first bite, i opted for the Reggae Reggae sauce. I finished it as i was very hungry, but opted to not have another. I wouldn't go back- nothing about the place was of note.

I guess, if you were drunk and had a low budget, it would make sense. Ultimately I have had better $2 bacon wrapped dogs on Hollywood blvd- and the street was cleaner.

As a UK restaurant, i feel it only proper to write this review in British English. Ahem...

When you're out with the ladettes bowling down YongKang Lu and your mate says "Lets have smash some soosh" and you're like naaah, i'm not feeling like raw fish and then your other mate is like OMG WHAT'S THAT IT SMELLS LIKE A CAR BOOT SALE and your other mate who is an absolute ledge is like "Mate that's proper onions innit" and then you're all like let's leave these Macbook Pro fake glasses wearing trashes down here and follow that smell.

Then you turn up and it's a proper sausage shop and some of you want a bacon sarnie, a builders tea, some coronation chicken or a sausage roll and the guv the Dejster is like mate we've got it all.

    SMASHED IT ALL.

    Yes. Just.... Yes.

Well, this was a surprise... A place where real British food is served. Yes, it is very small but do not give weight to such a trivial point.

Long are the days that start without a true fry-up. It makes no use of gimmicks or trickery, no disguising salad (salad has no place near my breakfast, come on Shanghai, get your head out your ass). This is a place that knows itself, stands true to itself, unbending in the battle against down right foolish assumptions of British cuisine. No more shall your hangover cry out for comfort, for its prayers have been answered. Let that Sunday morning demon drown in the pleasure upon your plate. Let yourself forget all else, and revisit the state of dining clarity that you so desperately need.

Now is the hour to raise your cuppa, filled not with tea, but with hope, hope that this monument (read: Bad Boy Bangers) lives on, hope that this day shall rise anew and with it, our country's pride of old. The foods of comfort are cooked, Britain calls for appetites, what say you?

    What say you??

(Also, this is LITERALLY the best sausage roll in China. If you disagree, you are incorrect and I shall fight you),
