With its friendly yellow and gold decor and small strip of outdoor seating and Ginger is welcome spot for a light meal, coffee or a cocktail. Located in the cluster of tres chic stores at the western end of Fuxing Lu Ginger exudes peaceful aura. The Pink Martinis croon softly on the stereo and cappuccinos come with a single ginger snap cookie.
One of my favourites in Shanghai for a good lunch or relaxing afternoon, or even for a romantic dinner!! Service is always smooth and waiters smile, they are polite and clean and they try their best which is something I appreciate more and more those days when going out in Shanghai or Guangzhou.
The menu is fine and food is always very very fresh. A top venue for a girls' afternoon in Shanghai!
As the director of Ginger, I would like to comment that our tofu is handmade, entirely free of additives. We will look into the portioning mentioned and thank the customer for the comments.
I went there last week and I must say that we were disapointed.
The seats are not good and the place is much too small The prices are overrated.60RMB for a small portion of Quich Loraine with salade is too much.
I've been to both Fuxing and Xintindi locations. The decor is nice, excellent venue for a Sunday brunch. We ordered the rosemary chicken, tofu salad and carrot cake. The rosemary chicken is very good (RMB 98 for large portion with potatos on the side). The tofu salad was highly rated. The seseme sauce is very good, but overpriced (RMB 45 or so) for very little tofu and a few string of carrots. Carrot cake is very light and pleasant - however, it's missing the essence of what makes carrot cake, carrot cake - the ICING! I'll definitely go back, but will try a different dessert.
