I get taken here everytime I come to Shanghai because apparently I seem like I need to buy souvenirs.
If you've never been and are visiting, you know, it's a good place. There's a shrine inside (extra fee) you can visit... but overall, it's some good photo shots to send people so they know you've spent some time in China. It's well decorated around the festivals. Also, there are good sacks and if you can tolerate the wait, a nice coffe shop on the lake... er... pond.
Getting a taxi outta there can be challenging so be prepared to be either pushy or patient.
Oh, and unlike other parts of Shanghai... don't feel compelled to buy the first thing you see... you'll probably see it again and again, so shop wisely and consider location. As in, the harder it is for you to find the place, the less customers they're likely to get, so bargain well.
