Serving standard mixed drinks and pints at reasonable prices, The Hut is a great option for groups of friends looking for a nice, quiet drink and a hangout without hassle. Also a favorite of Shanghai's "alternative" clubbing scene, look for alternative music-themed parties thrown by independent expat promoters, running the gamut from electro to dub to dark disco. Thumbs up for The Hut. And free peanuts.
