Cafe serving brunch, sandwiches and soup of the day. With an outfdoor seating space, this place makes for a nice lazy Sunday afternoon with a few friends.

Well about Embre. I do agree service is bad and food standard had gone down. I used to love their food and garden. Sandra Sim, the ex-partner, who used to manage the kitchen at Changshu Lu is no longer there. It is now managed by the other partner with no F&B experience. How long will they last? This place is suitable for dates, it so dark and quiet you might even get the whole dining hall to yourself.

Maybe the owners need to do a little stroll around the area... Embre has the most expensive menu offers - lunch 'specials' in particular - in this part of town. 80rmb for a sandwich? We visited Embre a few times when it had its previous location on Changshu. It had its cool garden location going for it. This Julu location does not have much going for it. Service is just unacceptable. We were the only two guests (at 1230 mid-week... that should have been a sign). And we had to ask for water three times, before one of five available staff bothered. Food took forever to arrive, for which we were told that "the kitchen is busy'. Hah... Seeing staff take a break - what else is there to do - didn't help convince that this venue is serious about its patronage. When we asked for a manager there was - of course - no one available. Ridiculous how they stay in business.
