Easily one of the top three clubbing destinations in Shanghai, Attica is one of Shanghai's only successful megaclubs, offering two party rooms, international DJs every weekend and a massive terrace overlooking the Huang Pu River. Attica is the ideal destination for out of town guests seeking a memorable Shanghai clubbing experience. Flip-flops not permitted.

The Maverick and myself navigated to Attica on Thursday night. Unfortunately it was totally dead. Attica offers some excellent views of Pudong and much more. I have been here on a few other trips and have been amazed the scenery. Sure it is not cheap but neither are similar places in the states. My advice is check you attitude at the door! THe bar staff was more than helpful. Sure it was slow but then again like much along the Bund things are changing for the good. Relax get crazy and by the way watch out for the steps....

Tuesdays now are relly good, missed that kind of atmosphere in Shanghai! Good people, and GOOD music, minimal that I love! Not crowded and not empty, have seen only foreigners there! Drinks 2 for 1, and if it's not good for u, right outside in "I Love Shanghai" tequila shots for 15 kuai! Anyway... And the MOS parties are also good!

Last Tuesday night was cool, It definitely was a new kind of club night in Attica. People hanging around, good groove. I played my first live set of Dub, Drum & Bass and Minimal. It was good fun and I will definitely do it again in 2Weeks! Played some cool visuals too. All very immersive. You can chat with your friends, have a dance or watch the visuals matching the sound. The guests were chillin’ on the new lounge setup we have on Toosday: No high tables, installed on coaches and getting a precise surround sound. Basically it felt like having a home party with massive sound system

Went to Virgin Party.. Meant to be free drinks.. So why were the obnoxious rude Bar Staff charging people... !! The finger food lived up to its name as the staff were stood swapping food from plate to plate with dirty grubby hands.... Nice !! Granted not a normal night but the staff were more pretentious than the Clientele.... No wonder they normally don't open till late... You need to be wasted to spend your money in this dump...

I had my best birthday party ever at Attica. I grew up with Hip & Pop in America and Attica is the place for those who wanna dance with Hip Pop. Other than that, Attica is a good place for techno lovers as well. The combination of the techno section, the patio, and the Hip Pop floor makes you think Attica welcomes everybody with different cultural backgrounds. Attica does repeat the songs, but Attica is a place for you to dance, not for you to listen to the songs. If you know how to move, who cares about the songs as long as the beat is good? Yes! Attica is pricy, but you get what you pay for and I always have fun at Attica. Over all, Attica is my favorite and the best place by my opinion.

I still don't believe that Attica is the hottest club in Shanghai (like what others say..). I'm not a techno/trance person so it's unfair to bitch about the music in the big lounge, but for the Hip Hop "closet", it was a total disaster when I went there. Lack of dance space, cheesy mainstream party jams (and the DJ repeated each song eventually), boring crowd.. Me and my girlfriend were sitting there and waiting for a "change"... an hour after we left with disappointment. I mean, whats the fxxking point to have a Hip Hop room there when they don't give a shit about it?

Please take care when paying with credit cards at Attica. One week after my visit I found out that they had charge me twice for the same amount and faked my signature. There is obviously someone in the staff doing some good money. I am now in the process of getting my money back and hope that this will not be a problem.

wo ai attica!!! i was in shanghai for a week and went to attica for their hip/hop night on thursday. i went the day before with two friends and the first attica staff that approached us was very rude. we immediately spoke english to her and she realized that we were american, then became nicer. overall, the waiters are nicer. we even came to befriend two of them. they gave us drinks on the house. the next day when we came back for the hip/hop party all drinks were on the house and we danced until the sun came up. i will definately revisit the place. i wouldn't recommend the mixed drinks but be prepared to pay the price for champagne and other spirits.

I went to Attica a couple of weeks ago with a couple of friends from HK. I was sooooo embarrassed. There was almost no where to go, everywhere was VIP and invited guests, reserved seating .....stupid. You are not allowed to go up the edge of the balcony in case you drop your drink, the prices they charge you are not likely to do that! And the staff are all so rude!! If you don't want riff-raff in your club, then don't let us in!!!!! It was no fun, the music was shite ..... this can't be one of the best places to go in Shanghai, surely?

Tue Aug 7th 2007

Had high hopes for it when I attended the opening Dior party, but kind of went down hill from there. Great space, but wasted on techno. You don't need that much room to just jump up and down endlessly. Most hip hopers are cornered into that closet they call the hip hop room and I swear you hear Michael Jackson's Billy Jean at least 4 times. Drinks are ridiculously priced and staffers are rude to you if you show up with a lao wai. They automatically give you the up and down and address only the foreigner. Reverse discrimination. Go with an all asian party and its better.

It's the best club I've been to in Shanghai. Beautiful view (the new fantasy terrace is great too) and superb music in both dancing sections. Complaints: drinks are too expensive and there are a lot of pretentious folks there. That said, this is absolutely a must stop. It takes awhile for things to get going, but the night picks up and it is guaranteed to be a good one. Cheers!

Attica is The club in Shanghai. I go there 3 to 4 times per week. Always there is a good atmosphere. Allthough the staff might be somethimes quiet unhandy, the place, the people and the music totally makes it wonderful. The terrac terrace outside is great with a great vieuw. this place is a good alternative to other bars with these vieuws.

This place is a joke from beginning to end, starting with the fake "members and guest-list only" sign downstairs. Anybody gets in - girls for free and guys for a hundred kuai each. But once you're in, what are you supposed to do? There is no view as they're so ubercool they can be by the Bund yet hang black dusty curtains over the windows. There is nowhere to sit as all the tables have a minimum charge of 5000 rmb (and yes, they shoo you away even if the whole place is empty). Should you feel like paying that you can't leave your table as the drinks are then delivered to the table. You don't want to hang by the bar as the staff is unfriendly, the drinks bad and the music too loud for conversation. And you don't want to dance as the music sucks. Is it really so hard to understand that what really makes a place great is the service? Making people feel welcome whether they are waving a big wad of cash or not? Staff that tries to accommodate you and lets you sit down when the place is empty? Attica is recommended for serious masochists only, since this joke isn't the least bit funny.

Nice view. The restaurant is worth checking out. The club is a good venue if you are into hanging out with 9-5 suit wearing expats or jock exchange students from the OC. For those looking for a bit more you'll find this place tawdry and a waste of time. If that's you my advice is to go wander the back streets and see what trouble you can find, bring em back to your place and carry on from there. Good luck!

Thu Mar 8th 2007

one of the best place in shanghai if you want to spend a good night. some details may be disapointed such as the unprofessionnal bar staff...or the price...160RMB for a glass of champagne... however attica is a good place to enjoy your week ends with your friends, with a great view, good music...

user drinrin

Sat Feb 24th 2007

interesting. had a couple of cocktails following a dinner at finestre and had these thoughts: to the cat from the usa that thought it was overpriced at 3000RMB. don't get scammed into a table brah, you don't have to pay that to sit at the unmarked tables. most ALL the tables are marked "reserved" and have a 3000RMB cover. it seems like they are primed strictly for the high-roller player types. that's great but how about leaving something for the rest of us that just want a drink or two when THERE'S NO ONE IN THE BAR, KIDS?!? i'm a tipper, always have been. you do good by me, i'm covering your end of the deal, just my style. that said, there was a HUGE difference in the menu price, what i was told the price was when i paid and my change. you want a tip? how about don't try to smack the "foreigners" in the mouth and maybe you'll get treated with like kind respect? we all gotta go through attica to throw a wiz if we're eating at finestre. how about keeping the business there after we're done with dinner? why treat us like chumps? if your bar staff feels like it's ok to smack around the expats, and that's your core business, you're losing revenue. they lost at least 2000RMB because i paid two different prices when i went to get drinks two different times. spent my money elsewhere kids, sorry. bottom line: you want to take your out-of-town friends somewhere trendy? have some apps at finestre but don't hang out at attica unless you know someone who'll treat you fairly.

this place is a JOKE!!! Big NO for me! unless you have 5g to spend in one nite!!! stay away from this place. the place is stylish and a OK view but there is a 3000RMB min. charge for the view! service sux! first and last time for me.

dropped in Late and was loved the fact the club didnt really start to jump off until 1am! I am a relative newbie here so excuse the depth of my review, but as I have already hit the \"hot spots\" of shanghai (rouge, park 97, G spot, Guandi, Volar, Mint oN wednesday Yea!) I think that this club ranks right along side of all of them, if not better because of the humungous space and @ different terraces, not to mention two different music rooms, there is even a restaurant! Could be a destination spot! Couple of really expensive but strong drinks, get sweaty in the R&B room, meet some lovely ladies and send me home with a fine french honey, but who can really complain if the night finishes with a \"happy ending\"?

user The Man

Sun Oct 29th 2006

Beautiful venue, great alternative to Bar Rouge and the other bullshit wannabe ritzy places with "a view"

user wengehuaren

Fri Oct 27th 2006

一样的 The venue does not make the club. The people and the music make the club. When will someone in Shanghai figure this out? It's redundant. It's boring. It's full of the same twats that frequent Bar Rouge. I'd rather poke my eyes out with a pencil than visit this lame excuse for a bar again.

user funk34

Sun Oct 22nd 2006

mmmm, the usual cheeky/thieving bund bar staff, who automatically put your change (no matter how much) in the tips jar. When will people in Shanghai stop accepting this as an acceptable practice. It wouldn't be tolerated in any other city in the world. I won't be visiting again. If I pay more I expect better service, not to be ripped off. It's theft plain and simple.

THIS PLACE ROCKS !! I HAVE HAD THE PLEASURE TO HAVE PARTIED MORE OR LESS ALL OVER THE WORLD AND CAN SAFELY SAY THAT I HAVE NEVER SEEN SUCK SPECTACULAR VIEWS - SHANGHAI, WHAT A CITY. ATTICA, THE NEW KID ON THE BLOCK, I LOVE YOU ALREADY. YOU COULD PROBABLY DO WITH MORE STAFF BUT HEY, YOU'RE YOUNG AND JUST GETTING STARTED SO I'LL FORGIVE YOU. THE FACT THAT YOU ARE LADEN WITH CLASSY GORGEOUS LADIES MORE THAN MAKES UP FOR IT. CAN'T WAIT TO SEE MORE OF YOU AND A SPECIAL THANKYOU TO JADE FOR SORTING OUR THE GUESTLIST. LOOKING FORWARD TO THE RESTAURANT OPENING NEXT WEEK - IF THE FOOD'S GOOD I MAY JUST HAVE TO MOVE INTO THE BUILDING !!!! BAR ROUGE R.I.P. AMEN.

Cool place, can see more of the bund and I like there is a big dance floor!!! Highly competitive to all the clubs and bars on the north side at the bund!

Sun Oct 15th 2006

Went to Attica yesterday with some pretty high expectations and have to say, that the place is quite disappointing. The worst thing was probably the music. I don't understand, that if you already spend millions on a club, why they failed to hire a DJ with a decent vinyl collection. Yesterday was just awful - low quality MP3 from the CDJ decks. If you look at all the fuss, that has been made about the DJ lineup...hope this will improve over time. On the website the club looked much more stylish, but once you enter ist all pretty boring black. The main dancefloor dome looks pretty unstylish and I cannot make out any design future, that make you go WOW. Its simply really big, but lacks the cosy feeling of a bar rouge. I am sure it will do pretty well since all tourist handbooks will probably list it, but in the end its simply another big $$$ addition to the mostly generic Shanghai clubbing scene.

The club is really amazing! Very stylish interior and a great view. Agree they had big problems at the bars on friday, but hey, this is always the same on opening parties!

user JesperD

Sat Oct 14th 2006

I went to Attica on their preview night. I must say that the design, look, soundsystem, layout etc. was amazing, but since it is a new club, they have some problems that they need to take care of. 1. The bartenders are extremely unskilled, five bartenders in a bar that is ten to fifteen guests wide should not let you wait for more than 10 minutes. We experienced waiting for more than 25 minutes. 2. They dont have any wireless backup system for the credit cards. 3. The only way to get up to or down from Attica is the elevators, where they don't have any personnel to make sure the elevators are properly used.
