Tucked away in the center of Shanghai, right next to Portman-Ritz Carlton and Plaza 66 provides Southern Italian cuisine. Bella Napoli's menu has an array of salads, antipasti, home-made pastas. Lunch sets available.

The first thing one notices is how small this place is. Not that I mind small places, but at least make it cozy - the faint noise of the conditioning system next to my table and the photos of Toto on the wall were not exactly what I was longing for while eating my pasta... However the food is pretty good (try the fresh home-made pasta) and the wine list is interesting. What is REALLY interesting are the prices: probably the best deal for Italian food in Shanghai. And the fact of having the Italian owner coming to greet you and offering you a glass of Limoncello at the end of the dinner makes up for the decor.

Had a good dinner last week on this italian restaurant. I am italian and i've to say that flavors are really genuine, pasta is great and ...bread was awesome! never had a tasty bread as that one in China!
Service is great as well; the only weak-point is that tables, in my opinions, are too close to each other.
Bill was ok, although maybe Da Marco is a little bit cheaper.
I'll be back.

I am there almost every day at lunch, can\'t find an Italian place in Sha where price meets such quality as in this cozy one. I am Italian though...sometimes waitresses are little bit disoriantated...but there\'s no way out, this is China!

Bella Napoli is a wonderful Italian restaurant.
I had the pleasure to go there for my birthday last month and had reservations there. The staff and the manager/owner (least I believe was the owner) were all very hospitable. They catered to all our needs as we were a party of 15. Luckily I had my Italian friends there to order us some delicious entrees. I would love to list them all however there were so many. We pretty much ordered almost everything on the menu and to say the least it was mouth watering.
As for the atmosphere, it was dimly lit, with candle light by the table. The sitting area downstairs and upstairs are fairly small, very good for small parties, intimate dates and small business meetings.
As for the price, it was a bit on the above average price range but completely worth it considering the amount we ordered. The owner or manager even gave us complimentary "Lemon Chello" excuse my poor spelling.
All and all, very great experience, hope to go back again and would recommend it to anyone who wants great Italian Food.

I work right nearby and often take advantage of the excellent set lunch menu here(2 courses and a drink for 50-75RMB) and have also gotten a freebie thanks to my frequent user card which they hand out to everyone who dines there (buy 5 meals within 4 months, get one free). The place is generally comfortably crowded and I always notice a fair amount of patrons speaking Italian, which I take as a good sign. The food is excellent. Pasta is always cooked al dente and the gnocchi are as light as a cloud - good portions, too. They also give you bread to dip in olive oil and balsamic vinegar before your appetizer and mains arrive. Minor drawback: the service is inconsistent, but not unexpectedly so.

Cozy ! I can only say: Why did I wait SO damn long to go and eat at BN? Last friday was a revelation. I remember this place when it was stillcalled Pasti and doing decent noodle at buget prices. Fortunaltely the decor, ownership ad whole concept has been redesigned and upgraded to a fullblown trattoria style eatery. Appetizer Vitello Tonnato did not disappoint ...and i got disappoined on this dish quite a lot in Shangers. The sauce was subtle and dit match the tender veal and the acidity balance of the capers well. My main a fillet of beef ROCKED. Seriously at the price of 150 RMB this was excellent value for money. Desert is a must-do , i personally think it's one of the bst tiramisu in the city...
I'll be back !
