not bad - but nothing special either. the cold appetizers - rice-wraps are a refreshing reprieve from greasy shanghainese staples, but entrees sampled left something to be desired. i'm unlikely to return - too many other, more original and interesting options to explore.

Last Sunday evening we went to FCC and I was really disappointed. The place is nice, waiters have always a big smile, the food is so so but very well presented,... but that's all! One of my guests had to get his ashtray, they gave us only 2 menus for 5 people, we wait for more than 20 minutes to order, more than 30 minutes to get our courses (of course my salmon was cold), 30 minutes to get the dessert order, we got the bill before we asked for it (before the desserts, in fact). I had to kill a cockroach in front of my guests and one of the waiters was not very professional (unnecessary remarks, interrupting our conversation in a bad way... it would be nicer if instead of those remarks they give information about the food or at leat ask if we enjoyed it!).

I visited FCC recently with some friends, them menu has an extensive range of food to choose from. I particularly liked the grilled beef rib-eye like kobe style and pan-seared pork filet mignon. The food was tasty and yet affordable. On top of that, the ambience was well designed and comfortable. Service was efficient and the staffs were very well mannered and friendly. All this contributed to the fine dining experience we had. I would definetely go back there and try the rest of the dishes on the menu.

Just tried the Vietnamese restaurant for the first time last week, and have to say food was very nice, and the atmosphere too,had the beef pho which was very good, and then the chicken curry which was way better than any curry i have had in the others viet" shanghainese" restaurants, i also tried the garlic king prawn, and i was quite satisfied with it too, actually it was very tasty, and traditional, cool place and very delicious food..

Foreign Culture Club is a pretty hot spot, was there last friday, wasnt expecting such a good atmosphere, well it is always more enjoyable when the place is packed, well of course I am not a big fan of huge and noisy Chinese restaurant but Friday was packed enough at F.C.C.and the atmosphere was very warmn and cosy, nothing loud and annoying. well-Let's talk about the food here, had the beef carpaccio, and my mate the pumpkin soup (best in town...honestly, pan-fried mushrooms on the bottom and a light but creamy delightful pumpkin cappucino topped with what i guess was white truffle oil... none of us were disappointed, the beef carpaccio was thinly cut and melted freshly when meeting my tongue and palate, honestly I was expecting something different, more casual, but it was superb! I had the lamb shank after, and my mate had the spanish fideo, both met up our expectations, which were at that point already high.. Finally we had the warm chocolate fondant , once again it was a top dessert, however the lemon and raspberry gratin was a bit under what we previously had, t was good despite the lemon which was a bit too frozen..but i still finished everything .. we didnt wait too long and the service was ok, not too bad and nothing exceptional..well like everywhere in Shanghai I suppose. the decoration is stunning,I haven' tried the vietnamese yet, but I will for sure and very soon.

In the sadly ever-diminishing world of the F.C.C. it would seem the venue has been dealt yet another mammoth blow, with the sad departure of widely acclaimed headchef Alexandre Molina. Having been a fairly regular diner at the Terrace (the restaurant on the ground floor)since its opening last autumn,I've been sad to see a steady and severe decline in standards. I've always followed the adventures of FCC and enjoyed attending several events (which also seem to have miraculously evaporated recently), leaving the restaurant much like other waning Shanghai establishments: full of hot air. As far as I can tell, practically all of the original members of staff (whom had always welcomed my wife and I so warmly)have left, leaving the establishment nearly as cold as its icy white decor. Portion sizes and quality of dishes, sadly have also become more and more disappointing,as well as hygeine (I cringe)leaving my wife and I ill at ease on our last trip. Now,I regret to say that the last remaining pull the restaurant had retained has finally cut its ties. I'm afraid I for one shall be looking elsewhere to dine from now on. A disappointing end to a restaurant which had so much potential. RIP FCC.

I visited FCC for the first time last week, having heard mixed reviews. Going with some friends who were visiting Shanghai for just a couple of days, I thought I'd finally check it our for myself.Unfortunately I have to say I was very disappointed. Having arrived, the service though friendly was very slow, and seemed not to know much about the dishes on offer (we decided to eat at the terrace restaurant downstairs)and when the food finally arrived, though pleasantly and very 'trendily' presented, were not as we had hoped from the impressive resume the restaurant boasts. Desserts were ok, but unfortunately we'd come expecting a little more. Prior to this visit,I'd also hoped to hire out the FCC for a company function, however when I enquired, was met with an extremely inhospitable management. Frankly they seemed more concerned with charging us twice what they should be than listening to our proposal, even though it would have been great business for them. Glad that I decided against in now. Overall, a disappointing reality for something which on paper, should score top marks.

had a lovely dinner in the french section. The ambiance is cozy yet classy and the staff are friendly and attentive, always there to help. Food is excellent and comes with big portion. An enjoyable dining experience with quality service that is definitely comparable to any of the high scale restaurants yet nothing snobby or pretentious. Would go back very soon for sure!

Last night I had dinner at f.c.c, the food was very delicious, dont miss their pho! however the air cond is a bit too cold, but they have good music and I heard that it is owned by the same owner of thai gallery, good taste and chic decor, especially the stunning out door terrace, will be a perfect place for outdoor dining.

First time went there for my friend's birthday party, and be honest, I have never had such an experience in all my life. From the moment you walk through the door, to the wines that was offered in the lounge, to the impeccable service, ending with a meal that is true perfection...I was compeletely enchanted and would have paid twice as much as I did for the same experience all over again. The service was flawless, the decor was charming, the food, well, a moment in heaven would not compare. Even though the potato soup was not the best in my opinion, but their lobster risotto was magnificent, the bouillabaisse and crepes suzette was also phenomenal! FCC is wonderful!

there are some good and bad comments about this FCC on the web, so I decided to check out myself as lot of friends recommended this restaurant to me. went there last saturday with my girlfriend, welcomed friendly by the staffs was a good start, I ordered their specialties bouillabaisse and the goose liver, great food and cozy ambience. surprisingly, it was all well organised. heard they have vietnamese food too, will come back soon to try the vietnamese for sure! in my opinion, it is one of the best in shanghai.

The Foreign Culture Club is according to me the most fantastic venue in town right now. Without being pretentious, the terrace serves the best cuisine in town, i had dinner here four times already, and never been disappointed, compared to the sky high places that are spreading on the bund, The Terrace serves good portions, everything is fine and fresh and the presentation is fantastic.French chef from Nice on the board from what I've heard. The service was very nice, they were not too much and not too less, just perfect. I also tried the lunch , and honestly , as an Element Fresh addicted, (had been there almost 100 times now ) their prices is cheaper, adn the food.....is absolutely amazing, huge portions, just look at the menu, and you will start salivating...had the lamb kebab and some spring rolls that were ahhh gorgeous (forget to say they have a vietamese corner on the menu).. will def go back more often for lunch and dinner, and even to their french patisserie that serves exquisite eclairs bread isnt bad either. Long life to F.C.C

I have to say I was quite dissapointed with the Vietnamese menu, the food was on the slty side, the hot spicy soup was more like a tomato soup. For the price I was expecting something a little better. I've been told the beef noodle soup is good, but now I'm a bit reluctant to even try it out. Good service and ambience though.

I tried Club Vietnam twice and am happy both times. The Pho is excellent (RMB 48 is kinda expensive, but well worth it). Their rice paper rolls are not bad, but nothing special; curry crab is very delicious; beef tenderlion salad is good, but need to go easy on the lime. Most impressed with apple crumble which is a toasty dessert with a carmelised dome on top. Very tasty and light - great way to finish off the evening.
