Editor's Description
Since its opening in 1997, Baci has been a staple of Shanghai's Italian dining scene, offering a contemporary menu by Italian Executive Chef Marco Banzola. Chic and intimate, Baci offers fresh pastas, tantalizing desserts, spectacular weekend brunch buffets and an extensive a la carte menu.

Had dinner yesterday - was a pr dinner, so did not pay and service was specially attentive... anyway:
Roberto Mancini is the "new" executive chef, reads: he joined already 5 month ago... Had Scallops with Asparagus and Mushrooms, Fettucine with wild Mushrooms, Lamb Chops w rosemary sauce, Tiramisu - flanked by house Pinot Grigio and Primitivo. Nice topping: Had a choice of high-grade olive oil for dipping and Roberto's shots of "special-secret-recipe" Lemoncello (carefull with that: its good, sweet and might inflict some weird dreams if overdosed...)
Every dish rich & satisfying, keeping Baci's level amongst the best Italian restaurants in Shanghai. Baci's Tiramisu, though, does not put an end to my search for this perfect concoction of Espresso+Marscapone+hintofmarsala+...
Very annoying: up from 10pm music got turned up, sound level making normal conversation rather difficult.
Still - keep Baci on your screen!

Had dinner there last night... really, really not impressed. I honestly feel like I could cook better Italian food.
My "spicy" pasta wasnt at all spicy, and the "prawns" were more like puny shrimp. Pizza was mediocre. Only thing I would consider above average is dessert.
As for atmosphere, I kind of felt like that was lacking as well. I think they need to replace the extremely worn out chairs.
Service is decent, supposing you like waiters who constantly pressure you to order, but that's pretty rampant across the city.
Spent approx 300/person. Not worth my money, but Upstairs at Park 97 helped out a little bit. Good thing about this place is that it's in the same building as a bunch of other things so you can entertain yourself elsewhere.

Was there for Sunday brunch/lunch. Considering the cost and reputation, it was a pretty abysmal showing.
* hammering, drilling and sawing going on in the restaurant throughout the two and a half hours I spent there
* construction workers and chefs using customer toilets (male toilets were flooded too)
* reasonably poor starter courses - the calimari was tasteless
* main course which was supopsed to be turkey was actually chicken... and was burned (not BBQ-ed, burned)

i am pleased to see that Baci Italian Cuisine has continued to show me quality food and a pleasant dining experience. i met the new chef the other night, Marco, very charming and since his arrival has delivered exquisite seafood dishes to my table! Baci has also had a face lift i see, and now that we can finally see the beautiful garden out front - am looking forward to the warm weather to dine and drink outside again!
