Before there was Sushi Oyama this place was my reference for excellent Tuna Sushi & Sashimi in Shanghai and although Oyama is now my number one, Tenya is still one of the best options for Maguro in Shanghai. They have several branches all over Shanghai, but I like the one in Huashan road the best, as it has the most authentic atmosphere and the Japanese service manager Taku speaks good English and is really a nice guy.
They are specialized in Tuna and Crab, as Sashimi, Sushi or as Shabu Shabu hot pot. I am not sure if they offer other fish, but I have never seen anybody eating anything else than Tuna or Crab.
They fly the stuff in from Japan and especially the medium fatty chu-toro is perfect. Taking into account that you are eating imported toro, the prices are moderate. Expect to pay 300 - 400 RMB for a set menu with Sashimi, Sushi, Crab, and tuna shabu shabu. I have been going there regularly for almost 3 years now and I have never been disappointed.
