Pretty and impressive but not too flashy, Lan Na is fantastic spot for taking that special someone out to. A guy took me there for a date, and now we've been together for six months. I can't promise you the same luck he had, but with a bit of game .. View listing »

I also had a problem with the service staff, we probably had the same waiter... I have worked in the service industry for many years and not only the attitude of the server in question was unacceptable... but also the complacency of the management about rectifying the situation. Shanghai is coming of age... this is a throwback to the days when there was no choice but put up with below-standard service in Shanghai. Well i for one say; No More!

I tried Hazara for the first time with 2 girlfriends last Sunday afternoon. It was 4pm and we were looking to relax over some nice wine and appetisers. What we got instead was overpriced and mediocre food, topped off with an extra large serve of attitude from one of the male waiters there. As we approached the relatively empty venue, we were greeted by the perpetrator. I wouldn’t even call it a greeting really. He basically stopped us very abruptly and asked roughly if we wanted to eat or drink. We said a little of both. (I later found out that if we just wanted drinks we had to sit outside, which is fine but surely there was a better way to relay this information to your customers instead of making them feel like trespassers) After being seated, we proceeded to place our order with this waiter. We ordered a bottle of white and 3 entrees to share. When I said that that was all we were after, he SCOFFED! Out loud! Right in front of us! We exchanged those “no-he-didn’t!” looks of horror and were stunned into silence for a second. When I questioned his sneer he said everything was fine but had such a smug look on his face it would have made even my sweet grandma reach over and give him a little smackdown. There were no other blatant rude encounters with the rest of the staff but they were shouting instructions to each other across customers and there was not a smile in sight. Not what I expected from a nice, classy place that I thought Hazara was. Needless to say, I won’t be going back anytime soon. In fact I dare say I will never go back. EVER.
