Adobo is really awesome. What brings most people in the door is their cheap happy hour special, and what a good special it is. First of all, it's from 10pm until midnight, which is when people actually want to get drunk...makes a lot more sense than the after-work happy hours. Secondly, the prices are hard to beat in Shanghai. It's 10 kuai for a big mug of beer, up from the previous 5 kuai which was a much smaller glass. House pours + mixer are around 10 kuai too I think. The atmosphere is casual and great for groups of friends.

The service is always friendly though it can be a little slow when they are busy; the bar is tiny so sometimes you need to wait a few minutes. The owners are almost always there and they are friendly and actually care about your experience.

The surprising thing here is that the food is really good, I think as good or better than Cantina Agave. It is not exactly cheap for dinner, but not expensive either, and the lunch sets are a fantastic deal. The tacos, burrito, and quesadilla are all very good and come with your choice of meat. The smoky hot sauce they serve with most dishes is excellent too.

I had been several times to the happy hour which is always really cheap and well worth my hard earned kuai, but i had never tried the food. it always looked too expensive next to my 5 kuai beers.

I went there for lunch today and I was pretty much floored.

I got the enchilata set lunch (38RMB) which comes with a chicken soup. it had a corn tortilla and this really tasty sauce. Good portion size too.

My friend had the "large burrito" which came with a soup and salad(38RMB) he said his was great too. Large, but not huge.

We shared the nachos which were also great and the chips were home made, so bonus points. the chili was seasoned really nicely.

my only complaint was that they served my ice coffee with cream and sugar already added to it. Why they don't put it on the side and give me the option i will never know...

they gave us free ice tea and some ice cream at the end of the meal too!

I will DEFINITELY be going back.

I know Catina Agave and Maya have been getting all the press recently, but I think the food and margaritas are actually better at Adobo. It's too bad the three restaurants all opened about the same time, because I worry this one will get lost in the shuffle -but it shouldn't - it's really GOOD! Decor is fun and frozen margaritas are yummy. Homemade chips are tasty as are the quaesadillas. Make the effort to try it. I'm glad I did.

Had heard/read this had good Mexican food, tried to make a rez for Saturday, but no tables. SO headed there next night. Place was empty, but they may have all just finally left from getting their food and bills from Saturday. The food was ok...had nachos and guacamole (bland--too much cilantro, not enuf lime juice), beef tacos (good) and green salsa marinated chicken. It had a good flavor, but sharp bones throughout.Wanted another beer, and to try the churros, but the waitress stayed busy arguing with the other table of customers...for about 30 minutes. Finally headed indoors to order from the bartender, but he was unable to help. So, while food was ok, and it may be fine if you have a relationship with the satff, but not a 'destination' place.

ADOBO - I LOVE YOU!!

What's not to love about 5 rmb beers, 7 rmb shots, and 3 rmb chips and salsa? Admittedly the chips are of a rather minute quantity, but this place is the BOMB.

The partner here, Jack, is a hilarious guy! Cordial, amiable and a great host. I've not tried to food, but happy hour is from 10pm-12am... THE BEST HAPPY HOUR TIMES. Seriously, who has happy hours at 4-8pm? That's waaay too early to start drinking.

The only negative is that it's a little distant from other places.. but still, with what you save on drinks, you can surely afford a taxi ride here. Oh and the waitress can be a little daft but Jack is usually present to correct her.

The decor is really cute.. HIGHLY RECD.

I've waited a long time for decent Mexican food in this town and recently we've had a bunch of new places open up. Of these new spots (all of which are better than what Shanghai had before), I like this one best. I went for lunch. It's close to where I live and I noticed that they have a deal, for 38 kuai you get a burrito or tacos, soup, salad, beans and rice. I got the beef burrito, which was great, but not huge. Loved the flour tortilla. The salsa it comes with was really good and the food really tasted like Mexico. The soup was absolutely delicious (and I'm not a huge soup person). Anyway, I left with a good impression, and knowing I'd be coming back.

Another time, for dinner, I thought about getting a big main dish I stuck with the smaller stuff and ordered the tacos. They're made with soft corn tortillas. They tasted fresh, and the pork filling was flavorful. I had a couple of margaritas, which were also good. Next time I go back I'll order one of their main dishes in the hopes that those are as good as the rest of the other things I've eaten. The prices are great and the atmosphere is pleasant. I highly recommend it.
