I don't write a lot of reviews despite the amount of times each week I go out for dinner with family or friends. I tend to be skeptical of restaurants that I have a really good experience with and will visit a place several times before I even consider reviewing the place.
Boxing cat is a shanghai institution. Not so much as, lets say, Windows scoreboard, the avacado lady, or people spitting on the stress and letting babies piss on the subway, but an institution nonetheless.
I have visited both venues on numerous occasions and have ordered from Sherpas at least a half a dozen times waiting for them to fuck up on my order. Each time I am at the restaurant and some cocky waitress comes and memorizes the order for the entire table of 4 without writing anything down I fully expect a catastrophe. The wrong beer, a pile of pubic hair in a salad, and overcooked piece of meat. But it never happens.
On this particular occasion we ordered the entire menu. Not literally but pretty goddamn close. Spicy wings - spot on, sweet potato balls - don't mind if i do, nachos - bring it on bitches. Plus a round of TKO to wash down the goodness.
The food all came on time, together and exactly how it should: appetizers and drinks, salads and soups and then mains. You clever bastards. You figured out how to run a restaurant.
And the ribs. fuck me they are delicious. I hate paying more than 100 rmb for a main as a married with a kid kind of guy, but holy shit I want them again right now....its barely 11:00 am on Monday and i'd quit my job right now if it meant smearing the ribs all over my body as I played mario Kart and drank beer.
I will say that the only downside is that there always seems to be too many staff members not doing anything, even when it is busy, but that can be overlooked as the food is fat person perfection. I am trying to drop a few beer pounds but as long as boxing cat is open it may never happen and to be honest - i dont give a shit.
Now if you'' excuse me I found a spot of lingering bbq sauce on the shirt I wore yesterday and I am going to lick it off.
Ps - Thanks for teaching me what Grits are too.

Enough with the Brexit (and you can stop sending those "opportunity investment" emails, Austen Morris Associates), America has been celebrating independence for like 200+ years. America's so good at it we're taking July 4 and a few of the days around that official day to celebrate -- July 2, July 3 it don't matter. Just try to stop us. Next Monday is, of course, the Fourth of...
