Once you get through the overpowering sickly heady fragrance that wafts through the hotel lobby lounge at the Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel, you are greeted by a cacophony of wailing kids, why do Asian parents let their children run amok in such establishments amazes me no end.
Finally a quiet corner is found at the bar adjacent to J-Mix where great cocktails are served by ever so friendly bar staff, and eager to please in an otherwise empty bar, perhaps the wretched children scarred the punters away.
There is not much on offer for bar snack food? However the menu from the Grill Room was proffered instead??? And again a difficult choice, so opted for Calamari, which was flavourless and extremely rubbery, followed by a very expensive Australian Wagyu hamburger, which was more akin to meatloaf equally rubbery.
Having lived in Dubai, and frequented a number of the Jumeirah properties there. The Pudong Jumeirah Himalayas Hotel is sadly lacking in the finesse that the UAE offers with their hotels food and beverage offerings.
Overall an extremely expensive experience for so little gained, but perhaps the Nouveau riche with their wailing children are the hotels real clientele.
