Had dinner here recently after a Beijing friend recommended it and will definitely be coming back. It's a small laid back place, modern decor with a cool look (the owner owns one of the designer furniture shops across the road, so you'd expect it to). The owner was really friendly and came over several times to check we were enjoying our meal. The service is fairly standard and only 1 of the guys was confident in English. The food itself was really tasty - neither of us eat meat and there was enough (just about) to keep us happy. It was spicy, but not so it blows your head off - for those really craving fire it may not be enough for you. It seemed authentic - the owner is Hunanese - but that's a kind of dumb thing for me to say as I haven't been to Hunan yet... There was a party going on the night we were there, so the place was packed - I have no idea if it's usually like that.
