Lets say you want to eat one thing and leave full... IMPOSSIBLE


I love the place, it rocks… but I am not a fan of paying almost 60 or for one even almost 100 RMB for one and it been the size of a normal toast. Its really small… I mean how much less money are they gonna make just making it a little bit bigger…
I hope they read this and be happy about how much I love their food and will go there a lot more if they just would make it a little bit bigger… Just a little bit… please… don't be cheap you don't seem like you have to your already great…

...of advice for Bikini: With so much creativity per square meter, and sexually suggestive monikers for your food, why not serve a bigger, better dog? I think everyone who eats here is surprised that for that level of gourmet preparation and let's face it your USD price, you ought to be serving something better than a typical hotdog! I know there's a premium to being located downstairs from El Coctel and guarded by the hashishmarijuana crew but please beef up the dogs or I'm just going to consider you the place to get a 25rmb Wifebeater (Stella)...

Look, let's not beat around the bush here, Bikini has got some good grub. They also have some clever, cheeky copy writers to spruce up the relatively impressive menu. When I ate there with some friends a little later in the evening the service was a bit plodding, even with nary another customer in the joint. The selection is pretty nice, and the food is excellent. My main beef is the pricing. I understand with some of the select imported ingredients that there is a premium involved, but it just seems a tad bit high for the delivered product and portions. Also, damn, the food took a long time coming out of the kitchen. Maybe I'm spoiled by the lightening quick Chinese kitchens, but it just seemed like they forgot our order or something.

Anyway, bottom line is that they've got really good food, a little overpriced, and don't expect it quickly.

We went to Bikini last night as I fancied something fast and tasty.

The waitress spent 10 minutes faffing about trying to get the paper placemats lined up before actually giving us a menu.

My wife ordered a ham & emmental paninii that was ¥58 - 4 tiny pieces of bread - tasty but overpriced.

I ordered a Mr Vidal hotdog at ¥45. After 35 minutes (they weren't busy) I asked where my food was and was told by the unhappy waitress that it's being cooked in the oven so it takes longer (my wife had finished her food at this time) so I assumed it was going to be a really nice pork sausage. When it arrived it was the standard buy in a jar, boil in water hotdog! 35 minutes to cook this??? The actual bread and toppings were very tasty, but the overall experience was extremely dissatisfying.

They don't have wifi (if you're expected to wait 35 minutes for boiled meat then surely they should let you get on the internet) and the Western manager was in and out a few times and not once did he check with any customers if everything was alright.

They also charge ¥20 for a coke (¥2 at wholesale, I don't understand why eateries in Shanghai charge so much for soft drinks) so I thought I'd go for an Evian at ¥30 - when the waitress brought it over it was the smallest bottle of Evian you can buy on the market (no size listed with price in the menu), she was starting to open it and I sent it back, talk about over charging - FYI she broke the seal but still put it back in the fridge, so some other unlucky soul is going to be given it.

We love el Willy, but Bikini was nothing but a let down, will not be going back

I recently sampled the Mr.Jeremy hot dog at Bikini and let me tell you this girthy stud lives up to his name. While the meaty filling is conventional enough, the truffle oil and fancy french mustard that accompany it make it nothing short of exceptional. When thrust into a freshly baked bun it comes out on top putting IKEA's hot dogs to shame (they lack girth and stamina).

Recommended to anyone looking for a one night stand with a gourmet hot dog.
