The Fennel Lounge is the latest concept from the people behind vaunted, but now defunct venue of local music and popular Shanghai hipster hangout, Anar. Fennel is a bit of an upgrade with list a Japanese style cocktail lounge serving molecular concoctions and exotic infusions as well as a full service restaurant serving contemporary mostly Italian cuisine.

This is a great bar to hang out with friends for some drinks!
Services and Reservation: The waitresses and manager were very attentive and also they have some recommendation of food and drinks. We arrived there around 10:30 - I booked the table at 10:15 and requested the table near the stage. When we got there, the table were reserved exactly what I asked for; just in front of stage!
Quality of drinks: Most of drinks were good. I definately say above the average. We ordered Maitai, Zombie, Chinese Green Tea Sour, Chocolate Martiini, one hot cocktail, beer and Jin Tonic. Zombie was nice but not enough rum in it, Maitai was very fruity, Chocolate Martini was also nice but a bit too sweet. The Chinese Green Tea sour (sorry I forgot the exactly name of this cocktail but it's the 2nd one from the cocktail menu) was very nice! This cocktail served as Chinese tea pot and small tea cup; I highly recommend this cocktail. Don't forget to try hot cocktail which it was served with coffee cup, it was interesting!
Ambiance: It is a cozy place with small tables and sofa. It has live musical performance on the stage; The music style is a bit fusion with Chinese Musical instrument and acoustic guitar. People enjoy live music and some cocktails.
Food: We only tried the thin crust pizza which it was not even written on the menu. When we asked for some snacks or cheese platter, the manager recommended the pizza after he checked what ingredient was available at the kitchen. I heard the chicken pate was good but please not that it is not available any more, and also french fries. But you can always ask the manager, and he will make some pizza for you!
I definately go and have more drinks. I have tried 5 ~ 6 cocktails so far, and most of them were good. There are still many cocktails; so tempting to try more...

Service is really great - the manager watches and helps his team in the most gracious and attentive manner. Very nice layout with lots of seating options and relaxed/ modern vibe. We had salad, steak and pasta which were all soo good and perfectly spiced with great flavours - I would definitley go back just for the salad. Highly recommended!

Charming new venue. The excellent staff are more than happy to offer a recommendation or two from the menu, which artfully mixes superbly done classics with a host of unique creations.
