It has been my favourite Indian restaurant in Shanghai for 4 years now and still is. Quality of food is consistent, never got a food poisoning there (cannot say that about many venues in Shanghai..., ...).
A really well managed and good place to spend a relaxed diner.

My wife and I used to go to Vedas on a regular basis. We never actually tried their famed Sunday Brunch but did go there often for Dinner. We noticed that the Dining Room at Dinner time was always empty - again on our last visit there as well.

There was only one other table in the Restaurant yet we had to fight for attention from the Chinese or the Indian Service staff. When they finally graced us with their presence we ordered some Food and Beverages. Beers took a very long time to arrive. When the Food finally arrived it came out like it was ready. Tandoor before appetiser and so on.

The flavor of the Chicken Tikka was bland and overcooked and dry like the other tandoor items we ordered. The Currys contain hardly any meat and where rather chewy too. Palak Paneer was a thick gewy spinach mess with a few cubes of paneer in it.

As we really used to like Vedas we where both disapointed since this was not the first bad meal we had there in recent times. It seems to me that a lot of the Indian Places in down. including Vadas and Bukkarah are going downhill.

Anyway, with the Prices they charge and the quality they serve we won't go back there for a while

I've been here quite a few times and everytime the food is consistently good. Their brunch is a great deal as it gives you all the classic Indian dishes for 100RMB all-you-can-eat. If anyone knows Baluchi's in NYC, it's much like that: it's my go-to Indian restaurant in Shanghai...

I have seen many times your add award wining restaurant. In shanghai.
I always recommended to my friend and guest VEDAS. Is one of the best becouse award winning Restaurant by jagat survey.
Indian food used to be very popular around the world. But now people are really disappointed due to negligence of quality food production.
I went to vedas restaurant last week for dinner. To be honestly service was very poor.even they never greet to the chinese face even they are foregner . Which are very similar with Chinese chicken pot in the street.somosa taste is ok but too simple way of cooking and presentation and 2 people need to share the 3 pices of samosa.
I order naan it was burned and bitter aloo govi dry was only the taste of turmeric salt and chilly. There is nothing flavor of Indian masala.
The tondoori chicken was authentic presentation but they using lots of orange red color to make red and taste was nasty.Vegetable briyani is but too oily.ofcorse price is very expensive i never go back again and never recomendation.

The food is really good and tasty. The quantity for one side dish is less so one has to order more. The quality of the food is very good.

Indian Brunch

The elegant Vedas does excellent North Indian food. Dinner can get pricey during the week, making their 150rmb Sunday brunch -- buffet-style curries, breads, tandoor meats, etc. -- a real deal, without counting the included free-flow beer and soft drinks. 11.30am-2.30pm.
