Editor's Description

The main attraction at Vedas is the all you can eat/all you can drink Sunday brunch for 100rmb where the waiters make the rounds with rice and curry dishes. Vedas offers a consistent quality of food and the Indian ambiance is on point. Location is a little out of the way - tough to get there by subway - but this means less crowding. They also have space for private parties.

Cotton's chilled-out villa atmosphere is also the place to go if you're not used to Chinese food and don't plan on becoming acclimated. They've done a good job of creating a pretty spot deep within the French Concession where foreigners can feel like.. View listing »

While I can't deny the quality of the food, there are many bad things about vedas. Service is terrible and you can end up waiting for a VERY long time to get your meal, but that's not all. I enjoyed going to Sunday brunches, which were 75RMB open buffet and it was truly great, probably because you get to serve yourself. Lately, seems like greed took over and those brunches turned into long waiting sessions where you get a super-small pieces of food every 10-15 minutes. You will stay hungry I guarantee it! Not to mention that it is overpriced for what you get, you can find really nice lunch sets in some Indian places which include a lassi for the same price you get just a glass of lassi at vedas. If they don't change back I'll keep hating them...

As a family we went to the Sunday brunch. We had an excellent meal - there is no way to leave hungry or thirsty. For 100 rmb you can eat and drink to your hearts content. The food kept coming out hot and fresh. The flavors were great and the variety huge. Cold beer - oh yes. Though they were busy we had great service and always the smile. I'd recommend this as one of the top north Indian restaurants.

Excellent! Tasty food for reasonable prices and very friendly - yet not too friendly - service. I really enjoyed my dinner. Naan and papadam tasted just like in India. There is a great selection of dishes and everything I've tasted has been SO good. Well, the "Indian ice cream" maybe isn't worth ordering... I warmly recommend Vedas for anyone who enjoys Indian food.

I went there several times, and the food-service-price package was always satisfactory...until last time. Don't know what happened, but this night, the food was a disaster. My buddy and I paid the bill while the "food" was still warm in our still-full plates, and went to the one street away Indian Kitchen for a descent dinner. Didn't dare to go back there since...

Everything about Vedas is amazing, minus the service!!! For a table of four, we not only waited an hour and 15 minutes for our food, but we had to literally get our own water. The food and atmosphere made up for the terrible service.
