There’s not one, but two Shanghai derbies taking place between the city’s two major teams -- Shanghai Shenhua FC and SIPG FC -- this Wednesday and Sunday at Hongkou Stadium. It’s hard to explain just how huge this is -- it’s all over the local newspapers, and fans of each side are trash-talking each other every minute on social media right now. Simply put, the Shanghai derby is a huge deal because there’s nowhere else in China that has two teams in the same city with the same intense rivalry. And this week, it’s even more mental than normal because of what happened last time.
