World (and China) architecture lost one of its luminary figures yesterday with the passing of British Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid. Although her works can be found the world over, in China she is most recognized as the mind behind the unique SOHO complexes that stand out in China's major metropolises. The futuristic SOHO buildings are most numerous in Beijing, of which there are 10 completed projects. In Shanghai, SOHO is represented by the Sky SOHO building, also designed by Hadid, which is a massive and ambitious structure that stands out even in a city full of them.
