Gallery: Hockney's 'The Arrival of Spring'

Seasons turning: A look inside acclaimed British artist David Hockney's The Arrival of Spring, now showing at Pace Beijing in 798.

It's a beautiful day for a beautiful David Hockney exhibition. The celebrated British artist's The Arrival of Spring is now showing down at Pace Beijing. Presented in a solo show, the exhibition features pastoral landscape works, composed on iPad and video, which depict the change from winter to spring in the artists home in Woldgate, East Yorkshire. (A.K.A Narnia.) Modern technologies are deployed to capture the timelessly British themes and motifs of the country and the rural, although the pieces have this soothingly modern electric quality about them. Bright dirt roads weave through undulating shadows and swirling thickets, and a sort of subtle magic and change is found in common natural scenes. Want to check it out? SmartBeijing put together a lil' slideshow of the exhibition.
