Hosting a truncated version of their populist, affordable art show, Surge Art is currently hosting 11 "emerging" artists out in a pick-up space on the third floor of the Indigo Mall -- the "SURGE Art Indigo Installation Series". It's a little mini-maze of diversionary pieces comprised of paintings, installations, video art, projection pieces, and sculptural works from China-based talent, including Red Hongy, Lu Jun, Li Guanjiao, and more. Emblematic of Surge's impetus towards moving a few units as well, the tour spills on into a "concept store" at the end of the exhibition in which guests are able to purchase gift items featuring motifs representing the artists' works: gift bags, laptop cases, mugs, accessories, bric-a-brac. Touring through the exhibition, it's a diverse but accessible show, geared towards newer collectors looking for something affordable for their blank walls. To those ends, there's a fair amount of provocation to be had. Some pretty alright stuff. Want to have a look? ***
