Long-running Shanghai-based punk band Round Eye recently went up to Shandong to work with the Tai'an Shadow Puppet Theater on the video for their new single, "Little Lan Lan". The puppet crew has been in operation for seven generations, and the video's analog vibe definitely fits with the DIY ethos of the band, who tour the globe relentlessly, often sleeping at punk venues and houses.

Speaking on the video, lead singer Chachy said, "I wanted a childish/naive medium to complement the childish/naive narrative of the song while retaining an Asian flavor. Went to Tai'an specifically because Shanghai is way too expensive, haha. Ended up climbing Taishan as well. Do not recommend during major Chinese holiday."

As usual, Round Eye have a lot coming up. On May 24 in Hong Kong, they're supporting the legendary hardcore punk band Black Flag, then in June they're doing a tour with 80s LA Hardcore punk band Fear, including a June 18 date at Yuyintang. After that, they're touring the US Pacific Northwest with lo-fi punk band Fang. Can't stop, won't stop!

"Little Lan Lan" is out soon on Orlando, Florida-based label Ripping Records.
