Here's something for the gearheads and budding tech nerds. Globe-trotting American sci-tech fair Maker Faire is touching down in Jing'an in early November. Founded in 2006 in San Francisco, the family-friendly science and technology festival has expanded to 200+ fairs worldwide in places like Tokyo, Berlin, Seoul and Paris. It has already been to Shenzhen and Taipei, but is only just coming to Shanghai. They have 50+ exhibits and installations from makers and technology enthusiasts all over China, introducing people to 3D printing, robotics, coding, experimentation, pottery and more. They've got eight DIY workshops teaching attendees to code, hack, build a robot and generally just live out a budding cyberpunk fantasy. Sounds like it'll have a community market atmosphere to it.
The event is on from November 7-8, 11am to 7pm both days, hosted at Tonglefang. There are family deals to Maker Faire over on SmartTicket. Early bird family package for four people is 90rmb, single-day admissions are 30rmb.
